Automatic STM Analysis/Design by Machine Learning

Parent Previous Next

One of the critical elements in applying the strut-tie model method is the development of an appropriate design model for the internal force flows through the structures. AStrutTie automatically develops the strut-tie model matching principal compressive stress flow using machine learning techniques. First of all, selecting the Stress Flow model and Truss model, and then executing 'Run Optimized STM Analysis', the program automatically selects the optimized STM and produces the analysis result. The analysis is performed in accordance with the following procedures.

1) Select 'Stress Flow' and 'Truss' models.

2) Click on the 'Run Optimized STM Analysis' button, and the 'Stress Flow' analysis find the principal compressive stress flow is performed first.

3) A truss model is created in which inclined elements are removed.

4) The STM elements' directions are automatically determined in accordance with the principla compressive stress flow (using machine learning).

5) After carrying out the truss analysis, elements are adjusted according to the angle between strut and tie defined in ACI 318-19. This operation is repeated until no applicable element exists.

6) When the iterative analysis process is completed, a message window is created. After clicking OK, you can check the optimized STM analysis results.
